Mercedes Knapp live canvas painting in the woods at Electric Forest Festival 2017

Mercedes is a multidisciplinary artist from Michigan in the United States. Drawing ever since she was old enough to hold a pencil, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2015. She has taken her bright musings to multiple music festivals and events throughout the world, along with a museum exhibition and multiple gallery showings.

Mercedes’ work explores the interconnection of humanity and our universe as a practiced antidote to often-experienced apathy toward the heaviness of daily life.

Her work is informed by spiritual credence, archetypal studies, and magical stories from childhood. These meditations on the human experience honour and refine the naïve optimism of psychedelic colour palettes with a deeply attentive, confident approach which simultaneously soothes and enlivens.

Thematic anchors of femininity, inner power, and grace toward the self are described with motifs of mystically imbued flora, fauna, and auric energy. Viewers go through the same hypnosis of deep emotional experience her subjects portray via graceful forms and rhythmic lines.

These works are not only a catharsis of the soul, but a celebration of it.

Her works now live in the USA, Australia, Colombia, and Thailand.
